Before You Apply
Applicants should review the information under “Who Should Apply – Academic Requirements” to ensure they meet the minimum academic requirements. All applicants should also review the “Essential Skills and Abilities Required for the Study of Medicine” document found under “Who Should Apply”.
Applicants should schedule their MCAT (must be done prior to, and within five years of, the October deadline in the year of application).
Applicants should obtain a copy of their Undergraduate transcript(s) which will be needed to complete the on-line application.
The Application Process
Application to the medical school is completed on-line at the Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS) Website. The application cycle opens annually in early July for entry the following fall. Applicants must begin their application by September 15th and submit their completed application in early October. The intention of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine is to prepare students to become physicians who have the capacity and flexibility to select any area in the broad field of medicine. The applicant is selected with this goal in mind. Faculty, medical students and members of the community are normally involved in the review of applications.
