Governance of the MD Program is overseen by the UGME Executive Committee which is responsible for direction-setting and policy development for the program. The executive committee includes representation from the following stakeholder groups and portfolio leads (labels borrowed from CACMS accreditation standards and elements): the chief academic officer and chief administrator; the executive leads of each Regional Campus (see Governance of Distributed Medical Education below); admissions; pre-clinical, clerkship, professional competencies, clinical skills and electives curricular components; program evaluation and student assessment; diversity and engagement; and student executive leads (class presidents).
Each of the portfolios listed are led by a Chair who is a faculty leader. Decision-making and activities of each portfolio are coordinated by a committee which may have additional sub-committees where decision-making and work are further delegated. The administrative structure for the delivery of all aspects of the MD Program is illustrated in the organization(al) chart below.
